Dallol
Sulfur hot springs
The kaleidoscopic colors of the hot springs in Dallo offer visitors a unique chance to enjoy the nature beauty of one of the lowest (and hottest) places on Earth. Explore the natural lakes with properties that make the water similar to oil and locals use as skin treatment. Surrounding the sulfur hot springs are incredible salt flats that are manually mined by the local Afar people and brought by camel caravan to markets a week-long journey away.
Erte Ale
Lava lakes
Erte Ale is a continuously active volcano where you can enjoy looking into one of its bubbling lava lakes. After reaching base camp by car, you hike for about 4 hours to the lave lake where you spend the night. The lake bubbles and spurts through the night and you can enjoy it's most active time early in the morning before hiking back to the base camp.
